How it goes

  1. Run the installer. Windows SmartScreen may say “unrecognized app” — click More info → Run anyway. It installs to your user folder, no admin prompt.
  2. Sign in or pick a name. Microsoft account for official servers, or just type a nickname to play offline.
  3. Hit Play. The launcher pulls the episode's modpack, grabs Java if you don't have it, and drops you on the server. It keeps itself updated after that.

Why is there a password?

The player launcher is for regular players in the videos. The password just keeps it from spreading off a public link. It isn't protecting your account or anything on your PC.

Something broke.

Open the launcher's console, press Upload log, and tell Carson. That sends him the crash report directly.
